Debunking the myth

Man, anyone who thinks girls talk all the time and boys don't has obviously never spent any time with my kids from church! Today we spent half the day together, and my ears are just about bleeding. All the way up to Mequon in my car.... nonstop talk from all directions at once. All the while we were raking and shoveling gravel... nonstop talk from even more kids at once. All the way back, all through our pizza lunch.... nonstop talk. It amazes me how they just don't run out of things to say. There was only one girl in the bunch, so it was all boys talking ... all the time.

But what amazes me even more is that they'll all be talking to me at the same time, and think I'm going to hear every conversation. Wow. I am worn out. This is why I'm claiming the Beast for my quiet time on our youth trip this summer. They can all sleep in the tents while I will get some blissful quiet time at night in the RV. God bless Tom & Beth, because they'll be out in the tents with the kids. I love my kids, but I value my peace. whew....

I can see clearly now!

My windows are clean! I got a good start on my spring cleaning today, starting with the windows. They're done inside and out - except for one patch that I missed on my living room window. Of course it's right in my line of vision when I sit in my recliner, so I'll probably end up re-doing it again because it's going to bug me otherwise. And of course, it's on the outside of the main window panel, which means I'll have to take out all 3 panels to get to it again. But other than that one pain-in-the-butt section, it's amazing how much cleaner my whole place looks when the sun can shine in freely.

I really dread doing the windows each spring - and missed last spring thanks to my sabbatical. It's worth it when it's done though because I feel so much better when they're finished. My upstairs and staircase are also done. Now I just need to find time this week to finish the downstairs, basement, and garage. Somehow they will get finished this week though - even if it's not until Saturday.

After this, I think it's time to hire a cleaning person again. As good as it feels to accomplish the deep cleaning, I hate having to use my day off to do my cleaning so often. Days off should be for some fun too. I think I deserve it too, right? Don't we all?

Max Update

I guess this eye thing for Max is about like last time.... 2 bad days, 2 good days, 1 so-so day. But he's my excuse now on my day off to be totally lazy so far. Max is all snuggled into my lap on the recliner now, and even though I'm ready to jump in the shower and get some things done today, I don't have the heart to move him. I also know these days may be limited.

So I guess I'll just sit here and watch tv for a while and let him sleep. Which brings me to another question.... how the hell did this guy Sanjaya make it so far on American Idol?? I don't watch the show myself, but I'm now seeing him on Regis & Kelly, and he's just a creepy freaky guy. It's like a reincarnation of Michael Jackson minus any talent Michael may have had at some point in his life. The "little-girly" hairstyle he has today just makes him that much creepier too.

Makes me wonder what America thinks sometimes....
