Yes, it's fall

Some people think a sure sign of fall is changing leaves. I just have to look at my schedule and I know it's fall. It sure gets busy. Good busy though. We have a bunch of new members joining at the end of the month, and I try to fit in visits with as many as possible before the class. That's a part of my job I really like. It's fun to meet these new folks and hear their stories. It looks like this is going to be our biggest group yet.

A rash of weddings is also a sign of fall. Last year it was 1 in September and 3 in October. This year that's reversed.... 3 in September and 1 in October. Now those just wear me out. But with 2 weddings this weekend, I should get enough extra honorariums to pay for the latest round of repairs on the Beast. So it's all good, I guess.

Speaking of the Beast, she seems to be unwilling to give up the ghost too, which is a good thing. I got her in to the shop today for the steering problem - which could be worse. There's a leak in the power steering, so she'll need a new hose. And of course, they found another problem - water in the headlights which means my low beams aren't working. Since I don't want to drive at night with high beams on all the time, those need to be replaced too. Of course, I could skip that since I rarely drive it at night, but I figure better safe than sorry. And a broken brake light too - memories of the Massachusetts state trooper made me say yes to that repair immediately! Thankfully, there still appears to be no leakage from the missing vent cover, so I'm going to wait on that one. The Beast lives on.... and will get some use in October when I escape from the fall madness to enjoy the fall beauty of the northwoods.

Now if I could only do something about the looming Stewardship campaign.... my absolute least favorite thing about the fall. Wonder if I could find a tree that drops money instead of leaves?
