Spring Fever II

The last time I wrote about my spring fever, it was the beautiful warm weather that triggered it. Now today it's a whole different thing that's setting off the itchy rash of fever. Somehow, despite the freezing temp, cold wind gusts, and snow flurries of today, my fever is taking over again.

This time, it's the Brewers season that has brought on my fever. I was desperately wishing I could have been at the home opener on Monday. I've only been to a few home openers, and those were thanks to the Mile High yearly outing with our tailgate party and drunken singles. But you'd think this was the first one I had missed in years or something. Tonight I'm watching the Brewers game on tv, which is also unusual for me because I really prefer to watch in person or not at all. And YES! My Geoffie Jenkins has just gotten the first hit of the game! Ahhhhh, I like Geoff Jenkins..... he's been a crush of mine for many seasons now. I still think that the 3 homers he hit in one game I attended was only due to the hot crush vibes I conveyed to him mentally...... but I digress. Somehow I'm easily distracted.

Last year, due to my sabbatical, I only made it to a couple of games and I really missed it. My average is just four a season so I can collect one of the Racing Sausage toys for each game. Of course now that we have the Racing Chorizo added to the mix, I must get to five games. Sure hope I get to my first one soon.

Not only did I miss most of the Brewers season last year, but I also missed almost the entire festival season! At least, I missed the best part of festival season. Chocolate Fest.... Summerfest....Bastille Days..... missed 'em all! So I need to make up for it this summer. Thoughts of the mini-corndogs at Fred's in Burlington (a side excursion for Chocolate Fest) have my mouth watering. My friend Jan suggested I write an "Ode to the Mini-Corndog" but I must admit, I can't quite think of an entire ode. Perhaps a haiku would do?

Processed meat and cornbread crust
Taste of fests to come
Even better on a stick!
I never eat corndogs other than at Fred's or at State Fair, but they sure do taste good with a beer and a gathering of friends. State Fair...... almost forgot about that too.... mmmmm cheese curds..........
Summer better get here soon. I'm making myself hungry!
